Although Francis Ford Coppola’s latest directorial efforts can’t really compare to the stuff he was doing in the 70s, I think we can all agree that his new genre piece, TWIXT NOW AND SUNRISE, is something to keep a watchful eye on. Last we heard, Dan Deacon had been pegged to score the film, and now Francis has spoken with Empire about what he calls, if done right, something we’ve never seen before. Check it…
Put bluntly, Coppola admitted: “if I can present it the way I want to, it is something that’s never been done before.” Hmmm, sounds cool, but what does he mean when he says “present?” Can he be referring to the 3D sequence he wants to pepper the film with? Who knows, but what he said next is even more exciting for us horror junkies. He described the film as: “part personal film, part Gothic romance, part Halloween show.”
Gotta love that shite, right?
And what about the influence his daughter Sofia has had on his recent work?
“The only rule [for his film] is that it is beautiful and that people are affected and moved by it. My daughter has taught me how to look for what I want to express with less – with less talk and more with what I feel. I feel a lot of things, but in order to try and express them, sometimes I think I go too far.”
As long as the film is good, Frankie, we don’t care how far you go. I mean, that cave scene at the end of APOCALYPSE NOW is pretty f*ckin far out…and it’s aces!
Starring Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley (below), Bruce Dern, Ben Chaplin, Don Novello, David Paymer, and Elle Fanning as a ghost, TWIXT NOW AND SUNRISE hopefully comes out around Halloween. Would seem perfect!
