Is this a good or bad omen…you be the judge!
According to the L.A. Times, Millennium Films is forging full speed ahead with EXPENDABLES 2, though it seems Sly Stallone will only appear on one side of the camera. As you know, he wrote and directed the first film, which went on to become a bona fide summer performer. Word is he isn’t even penning the follow up…
Instead, EXPENDABLES 2 has been written by David Agosto and Ken Kaufman. The former only has a short-film credit to his name (BIG CANYON), while Kaufman has inked such works as SPACE COWBOYS for Clint Eastwood and THE MISSING for Ron Howard (he also wrote IN THE ARMY NOW, MUPPETS IN SPACE and CURIOUS GEORGE, but the less said about that the better).
No details have been given for the mission the band of bad-asses will undergo in the sequel, but Stallone has been adamant about bringing in younger blood to counter the older action stars of yore. However, with Schwarzenegger taking part in the first film, and currently looking to get back in the acting biz, a bigger involvement of his in the sequel would only seem fitting. We also know Sly wants Bruce Willis to come back for a larger part as a “super villain.”
Only time will tell, I suppose. But as of now, Sly will only star in and produce EXPENDABLES 2. You think that’s a wise move on his part, or is he selling himself short after such an admirable job the first go around?
