TV pilot casting season is in full effect, but we need be choosy about what we cover here at AITH. One show I think we can all agree deserves an update is “The River,” the horrific thriller series from ORPHAN and UNKNOWN director Jaume Collet-Serra. You know, the one produced by PARANORMAL ACTIVITY alums Oren Peli and Jason Blum. Yeah yeah, that one…

Anyhoo, “The River” just locked in its lead actor, a British dude named Joe Anderson (seen right). Anderson made his screen debut in Christopher Smith’s debut CREEP, and has since appeared in stuff like CONTROL, THE CRAZIES, AMELIA, and will appear in upcoming projects like THE GREY and TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN.

In “The River,” Anderson will play Lincoln Cole, a young man who, after his father disappears, journeys into the heart of the Amazon river to find him. With a small camera-crew meant to document his travels, Cole and company soon learn something terrifying lurks in the water.

Also starring Eloise Mumford (below), “The River” hits ABC sometime soon.
