Time will tell if Neill Blomkamp is a flash in the pan or not. We all loved DISTRICT 9, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the dude’ll follow it up with a movie as good or better. And what we know about said follow up, the epic sci-fi thriller ELYSIUM, is so scarce that we really have no idea what to expect.

Enter star Matt Damon, who promises the film WILL be good. Speaking with Eye Witness News, Damon offered this:

“I’ve never done anything quite like this and I kind of responded to what’s out there and what’s in and what’s good. The movie is going to be good, he showed me basically the entire world which he’s going to build and it’s really, really exciting. And I can’t wait!”

We can’t wait either, Matty. Hopefully you finagle Jodie Foster (below) to come on board once for all…the best way to ground huge-scale sci-fi is to have good actors spouting the lines. Doesn’t mean it’ll be good, but it should be more credible. Know what I’m sayin’?

With Sharlto Copley also set to star, ELYSIUM is due sometime in 2012.
