Just a few days ago, we heard the rumor that seemed too good to be true: Paul Verhoeven directing Halle Berry as a seductive MILF in a psycho-sexual thriller called THE STUDENT. Well, as bad luck would have it, it was too good to be true.
Via The Playlist, we learn that the reps for both the Oscar-winning actress and that mad Dutchman have denied the claims that either are involved with the picture. Furthermore, Relativity Media, the studio behind THE STUDENT, also poo-poos the notion. While the project is in active development, there’s no director or cast attached yet. The story is about a 19 year old kid who takes up a summer internship… and then takes up with his boss’ wife. Film noirish passion and danger ensues.
It was good while it lasted, eh? I think these two would make a really fun, crazy movie together. Perhaps they’ll get on with THE SURROGATE after all…? It sounds even more lurid, so let’s hope so.
