Timmy Burton and the suits at Warner ain’t messin’ around!

Not even 24 hours after hearing Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcote had been added to DARK SHADOWS, Tim Burton’s adaptation of the 60s vampire soap…it now seems a female lead has been found suitable to play opposite Mr. Big John Depp. Her name? Ms. Eva Green!

Green (pictured), the gorgeous French native, is probably most notable for her role as a Bond Girl in the 2006 film CASINO ROYALE. However, go check out her screen debut in Bernardo Bertolucci’s THE DREAMERS to see what inextinguishable heat the girl is packin’!

Anyway, Deadline reports that Green is in line to play Angelique, a powerful witch who was alternately tormented and bewitched by her love-hate relationship with Barnabas Collins (Depp). The role was originated in the horror soap by Lana Parker.

DARK SHADOWS makes a full slate for Green, who also has CALLAS and ARBITRAGE in pre-production.

But really, how excited are you guys and gals about Green playing the female lead in DARK SHADOWS? Is she just unknown enough to bring something fresh to the table, or does she lack the experience to go toe-to-toe with the f*ckin Sparrow? I happen to be in the former camp myself!

DARK SHADOWS descends sometime next year.
