We can never have enough Frankenstein in our lives. The immortal tale pops up in various incarnations every generation, and it’s seeing a big time resurgence right now: Guillermo del Toro is working on his take for Universal, while back in December it was announced that Sony is shocking the monster to life with writer Craig Fernandez.
Now the studio behind the TWILIGHT saga is about to scream “he’s alive!” with an adaptation of the soon-to-be published novel “This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein”, which will hit in the summer.
The story surrounds young Victor Frankenstein and his attempt to save his twin brother, Konrad, who falls gravely ill. Victor seeks out a mysterious old alchemist who sends Victor and his best friend Elizabeth on a dangerous quest to find three rare ingredients needed to create the Elixir of Life, a fabled serum that will give the drinker perpetual health. There are betrayals along the way and a love triangle between Victor, Elizabeth and Konrad.
I’m getting the vibe that this is TWILIGHT with Frankenstein’s Monster, or something close to it. That frightens me…
No screenwriter has been tapped yet for the gig, but that announcement shouldn’t be far off. Keep your eyes peeled here for that news when it hits.
