Some more minor Tim Burton-related news for you; right after giving you the news that a production designer has gotten to work on Burton’s DARK SHADOWS comes this release date shift for Burton’s other impending production: FRANKENWEENIE.

The stop-motion family film was originally slated to come out on MARCH 9, 2012. However, Disney has changed their minds on that front, removing the Weenie and inserting their epic JOHN CARTER OF MARS. Never fear; FRANKENWEENIE has been given a much more appropriate release date: OCTOBER 5, 2012. Yep, just around the time most of us are putting up decorations and wringing our hands in eager anticipation of our favorite holiday. Works for me!

When young Victor’s pet dog Sparky (who stars in Victor’s home-made monster movies) is hit by a car, Victor decides to bring him back to life the only way he knows how. But when the bolt-necked “monster” wreaks havoc and terror in the hearts of Victor’s neighbors, he has to convince them (and his parents) that despite his appearance, Sparky’s still the good loyal friend he’s always been.

Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Martin Landau and Catherine O’Hara will provide the vocal talent for FRANKENWEENIE.
