Duncan Jones to follow Source Code with a Blade Runner homage?

Anyone think Duncan Jones’ sophomore effort, SOURCE CODE, looks more interesting than his debut feature, MOON? If so, chances are his third consecutive sci-fi film will get you all wet in the pants as well. Scope it…

You see, it’s been known that Jones has two film projects as possible SOURCE CODE follow ups, one of which is called MUTE – a sci-fi thriller about a mute bartender outwitting gangsters in the future. Well, that project has been scrapped for now, mainly out of a necessity to bolster the script. A draft leaked online last year and was met with tepid response, so the idea is to go back to the drawing board and make the shite work for good. However, all may not be lost!

Speaking with The Playlist, Jones uttered intentions of his next flick, whatever it may be called:

“One thing I can tell you about my next project is that I’m determined to do a future city film,” he said. “I want it to be my homage to ‘Blade Runner,’ even if it’s a bit bigger, it will be a city based future film.”

Yes, MUTE was originally compared to BLADE RUNNER as well, but it doesn’t sound like the two projects are one in the same. Jones probably just has a Pris and Roy Batty crush!

Anyway, how do you guys and gals feel about Jones doing a futuristic city flick? Is doing a BLADE RUNNER homage a dangerous proposition? Or has this dude proven himself worthy of an attempt?
