Arnold Schwarzenegger returning to the big screen with WWII tale?

Earlier today I wrote about one EXPENDABLE action hero, and now I’m here to write about another. Perhaps the action hero of our time: Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Now that the man is out of a job, the possibility of returning to the big screen is understandably tantalizing. In an interview with Austrian site Krone, Ahnold talks about what he’s got in the cards; one potential flick is one he’s been attempting to make for over a decade:

“Currently I’m reading three scripts. One topic/script, which I considered a long time ago before governor, is delighting me particularly. In it I would play an older soldier, who gets the order at the ending of the war to kill a bunch of kids. But he doesn’t do it and get them to safety at the risk of his life and it has all kind of adventure. This script is based on a true story.”

It would appear as though Schwarzenegger is referring to WITH WINGS AS EAGLES, a project written by Randall Wallace (BRAVEHEART) that has been in the works for years. One notable red flag the movie has dealt with is the depiction of a “heroic” Nazi, seemingly something no studio has wanted to touch. (Though the film was once slated to shoot in the fall of 1996.)

This isn’t necessarily going to be an Arrow in the Head type flick, but anything Arnold is of interest to us, so consider us on the case in regards to WITH WINGS AS EAGLES if it moves forward…
