Can’t say I’m particularly proud to report this news, but what the hell…
CASPER – that friendly ghost with the most – a character that has been languishing in direct-to-video sequels for more than a decade, may be headed back to the big screen!
According to What’s Playing, the now rights-holding Classic Media is looking to reboot the Amblin/Universal project…and do so with a live-action, big screen version. As of now, the affable wraith hasn’t haunted the big screen since 1997. Must be time to introduce the wan little bastard to a whole new generation of youngens. At least, that’s gotta be Classic’s thinking.
Also, since the original CASPER came out in 1995, the thought is technology has advanced so greatly that a meld of live-action with newfangled CGI will create a whole new experience. Word is a 3D treatment, as you could have guessed, is being mulled over. Nothing’s official however.
Alright kiddies, what do we got? Digging the idea of a big-screen CASPER comeback? Should our man Erik Walku…I mean Billy Pullman reprise his role? How about Ms. Ricci (below)?
