According to various reports, a propane explosion on the set of IN THE NAME OF THE KING II, starring Dolph Lundgren and directed by Uwe Boll, sent six people to hospital, including actors wearing makeup and medieval costumes.
Before you get too concerned, no, Dolph Lundgren was not injured… Before you get too elated, no, production of IN THE NAME OF THE KING II will not be halted and the already-shot footage thrown into a flaming garbage can.
The blast happened Tuesday afternoon in Golden Ears Provincial Park, east of Vancouver. Six people suffered minor burns and one had a broken leg. “What made it a little difficult to diagnose these people is that many of them had black face paint on and medieval-type clothing from the movie set,” Fire Department Chief Dane Spence said. So, what, they refused to break character and remove their costumes?
The flick apparently deals with a modern-day soldier (Lundgren) being thrust backward in time into the depressing world of the first film. Boll regular Natassia Malthe (pictured below) co-stars, alongside Lochlyn Munro, John Tench, Heather Doerksen and Natalia Guslistaya. It might come out next year, although it’s hard to tell if this is one of those Boll movies that simply never sees the light of day.
