One man’s treasure is another man’s trash…

Recently picking up a property Warner Bros. left by the wayside, DreamWorks now seems intent on adapting Jim Massey’s sci-fi/horror comic MAINTENANCE into a feature film. And they’re trying to lock a deal before Tinsel Town breaks for the holidays…

According to THR, DreamWorks locked the rights to the Oni Press comic book property, which was published in 2006. Written by Jim Massey and illustrated by Robbi Rodriguez, MAINTENANCE follows the exploits of two janitors who work for TerroMax, Inc., the world’s biggest and best evil science think tank. When they’re not dealing with toxic spill monsters and menial time machine repairs, they have to contend with their boss, a multitude of mad scientists, jetpack-equipped cavemen, alien repomen, and the cute girl who works at reception.

Not sure if the powers that be will opt for a live-action film, an animated one, or a combination of both…but with the amorphous tone the comic boasts…it really could go in any direction. At Warners, McG was attached to direct MAINTENCE, with script-work done by Joe Ballarini (DANCE OF THE DEAD).

Alright, let’s crack it open. First off, anyone familiar with MAINTENANCE? Do you think it’ll work best live or animated? Should there be a mix of both? Who do you think should direct if not McG?
