From one Nic Cage ditty to another…

Or, from Nic Cage avenging his daughter’s death…to avenging his daughter’s abduction. Of course, Cage gets kidnapped himself (along with Nicole Kidman, below) in next year’s TRESPASS. Oh, the madness!

Anyway, THR is reporting The Cage has inked a deal to star in MEDALLION, an action-thriller from Millennium/New Image that is cut from the same cloth as TAKEN. The flick will be directed by Simon West (yes, CON AIR), from a script by journalist-cum-screenwriter David Guggenheim (SAFE HOUSE). Here’s how the trade describes the project:

The story of MEDALLION, with shades of Taken, follows a father, a former master thief, who has only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab.

Ah, sounds about right for Cage and Big Apple haircut. Reteaming with Simon West is a bit worrisome, but hey…Cage on a potential death march? I’m all for it.

What says you guys?
