Just a brief morsel of an update on Ron Howard’s adaptation of Stephen King’s THE DARK TOWER, which the director is bringing to both the big and small screen in what has to be one of the more ambitious endeavors we’ve recently witnessed.

Deadline.com spoke with the ginger helmer about this and that and eventually the monumental task of bringing King’s epic work came up.
“It is going well, and it has been incredibly stimulating to work on,”
Howard said. “It’s dense, a great author’s life work is not to be taken lightly. It has been utterly fascinating to explore it, and we are having great creative conversations. I’ve begun tossing and turning at 3 in the morning over it, so that’s a good sign.”

I’d be tossing and turning too if I were him. The size and scope of King’s series – and Howard’s upcoming realization of it – is enormous. Have to wish him luck, though; I’d love to see this done right.

THE DARK TOWER is scheduled to hit theaters on MAY 17, 2013.
