First “official” still of John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe in The Raven!

Almost a month ago to the day we ran the first set photo of John Cusack doing his best Bob Downey Jr.-as-Edgar Allan Poe impersonation, and we now have the first “official” look of him as the same in James McTeigue’s THE RAVEN. Stark, old-fashioned, foreboding…it’s everything you’d expect from a truly cared for Poe flick. Hopefully the final result is the same…

Written by Ben Livingston and Hannah Shakespeare, THE RAVEN follows Edgar Allan Poe as he searches for a serial killer who has kidnapped his fiancée and has gone on a murder spree that mimics the author’s work.

Damn I’m stoked for this flick. I grew up on Cusack flicks, love the man’s work. Maybe this will kick-off a streak of really dark films for him. His sense of humor is no doubt dark, but he needs to put those lame ass rom-coms to eternal rest already. Know what I’m sayin’?!? No? Check out his tweet for the above look:

“official- will play edgar allen poe in fall-a-film called the raven, send any poe- gold – my way as i begin this journey into the abyss”

See what I mean!

Still awaiting a release date, THE RAVEN also features Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Alice Eve (below), Luke Evans, Dave Legeno, Kevin McNally, Pam Ferris, Ian Virgo, Ana Sofrenovic and Sergej Trifunovic.

Keep posted for more…
