Bradley Cooper thriller The Dark Fields gets an awful new title

Back in August, Relativity Media took the reins on the Bradley Cooper/Robert De Niro thriller THE DARK FIELDS, a film Universal was originally in line to distribute. (The move happened right around the same time Relativity decided to become a self-distributor.) It was then pushed back from a January 2011 release to a March 18th date. But now a bigger change has been made – and it’s idiotic.

According to Box Office Mojo, THE DARK FIELDS is now going by the title LIMITLESS. Just awful. LIMITLESS sounds like some kind of extreme sports documentary. I can see the reviews now: “It offers a LIMITLESS amount of suck.”

Directed by Neil Burger (THE ILLUSIONIST), THE DAR- LIMITLESS follows a down-and-out writer who gets his hands on a top-secret pharmaceutical drug that makes one smarter. He experiences sudden financial and social success but soon discovers that the drug has lethal and lasting side effects. Before long, mysterious antagonists are pursuing him.

Abbie Cornish, Johnny Whitworth, Robert John Burke and Anna Friel (below) also star.
