Mark Wahlberg will NOT be the star of the Crow reboot, despite earlier reports!

Shocking, I know…

This here article’s a recantation of one we ran last month…which put Marky Mark Wahlberg in the lead to headline the oft-discussed CROW retool. As many of us thought at the time…that shite just ain’t happening!

Apparently Wahlberg confirmed as much to Cinematical this past weekend, saying:

“They talked to me about it and there was a director attached who I was a fan of, and he’s no longer doing it. We just thought about it – ‘is there something cool to be done there?’ But we’re not committed to making the movie.” Wahlberg underscored the sentiment with “We never committed to making the movie.”

Okay, I know it’s no real surprise Marky won’t be the new Eric Draven, but what about the overall status of the project? Only a few days after our mentioning of Wahlberg assuming the lead, director Stephen Norrington was unceremoniously punted from the production. Where the hell does that ultimately leave the film?

Wahlberg of course, is covered. He has THE FIGHTER due out soon (with Oscar hopes), CONTRABAND and the Seth McFarlane comedy TEDDY BEAR in pre-production. His producorial docket is even more impressive.

Alright, so what’s up? We like this decision, even if not surprising in the least? Were there a few of you actually hoping Marky would take the role…which it sounds like he might’ve if Norrington was still involved?

Let’s hear it!
