I don’t care how many Shakespearian soliloquies the dude has spouted in his time…Anthony Hopkins is and will always be Hannibal Lector. Swedish filmmaker Mikael Håfström clearly knows this as well, as evidenced in the menacing new one-sheet for his upcoming exorcism yarn THE RITE. Okay, it’s not all that menacing, or even related to SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, but you can certainly tell Mr. Hopkins means f*ckin’ business this time around!

Coming to the masses January 28th:

THE RITE centers on a disillusioned American seminary student who attends exorcism school at the Vatican and ultimately finds his faith through encounters with demonic forces. Hopkins will play a priest who is an expert in exorcisms and whose methods are not necessarily traditional.

Alice Braga, Ciaran Hinds, Rutger Hauer, Torrey DeVitto, Chris Marquette, Toby Jones, Maria Grazia Cucinotta (below) and Colin O’Donoghue also play a role in the film. Michael Petroni adapted the script from Matt Baglio’s book.
