Jackson Rathbone, who you might know as one of the moody vampires in TWILIGHT (although you certainly remember him from our podcast) is in line to join SHADOWLAND 3D, the adaptation of Peter Straub’s fantasy/horror novel being directed by Erik Canuel. When we last updated you on this project, Bill Nighy and Natalie Dormer had become attached, although according to Variety, Nighy is still in “advanced negotiations”.
SHADOWLAND 3D will be shot in Ireland and the U.K. for under $20 million. Straub is on board as executive producer. The 3D will be handled by the brilliantly-named 3D Camera Company, which worked on SAW 3D.
The story concerns two young boys, Tom Flanagan and Del Nightingale, who spend a summer with Del’s uncle Coleman, who is one of the foremost magicians in the world. As time passes, however, Tom begins to suspect that what Coleman is teaching is not a series of harmless tricks, but is in fact real sorcery.
