Simon Pegg & Nick Frost say Paul is a CG character like no other seen before

Our favorite British funnymen – Nick Frost and Simon Pegg – are back to the bricks to promote their silly new alien road movie PAUL…and thanks to the blokes over at Empire Online, we’ve got a few more juicy tidbits about the film. Have a read…

About how believable the titular CG character will be, the pair responded:

“If people don’t forget that Paul is a CG character within ten minutes of meeting him,” says Frost, “we’ve done something wrong. He should not be anything special. He should be one of the gang.”

Pegg added:

“There are bits of dialogue where he just talks and does a lot of theorizing about religion and sexuality and he swears a lot,” says Pegg. “We’ve not seen a CG character do that before.”

Nice…so the anti-Jar Jar basically. I’m all for it, in fact there should be way more non-PC characters in animated films (not Cartoon Network). Filthy, degenerate, awfully bad characters at that!

Alienating theaters sometime next year, PAUL follows:

Two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage takes them to America’s UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever. For the past 60 years, an alien named Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen) has been hanging out at a top-secret military base.

For reasons unknown, the space-travelling smart ass decides to escape the compound and hop on the first vehicle out of town—a rented RV containing Earthlings Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Collings (Frost). Chased by federal agents and the fanatical father of a young woman that they accidentally kidnap, Graeme and Clive hatch a fumbling escape plan to return Paul to his mother ship. And as two nerds struggle to help, one little green man might just take his fellow outcasts from misfits to intergalactic heroes.

David Koechner, Jane Lynch, Sigourney Weaver (below), John Carroll Lynch, Jo Lo Truglio, Blythe Danner and Jesse Plemmons also star in the film.
