New Charles Manson film being prepped by Brad Anderson, to star Ryan Kwanten?!

UPDATE: According to an article over at ShockTillYouDrop, it’s MACHINIST screenwriter Scott Kosar at the helm of this flick, not Brad Anderson. Check out the article HERE.

Here’s a curious item: At a press day for the upcoming western RED HILL, Ryan Kwanten (star of that flick, as well as HBO’s “True Blood”) evidently slapped down the news that he’s going to be playing infamous psychopath Charles Manson in a new biopic. In addition, Kwanten said that Brad Anderson (VANISHING ON 7TH STREET) is attached to direct the film.

All of this is based on Kwanten’s word, so maybe it’s just something of a “dream project” for him. The article mentions that it’s in the “early stages of development”, which could basically mean anything. Still, food for thought. (Also, this shouldn’t be confused with that flick about the Manson Family girls, set to star Thora Birch and Heather Matarazzo.)

I haven’t been exposed much to Kwanten’s work; the only thing I’ve seen him in is DEAD SILENCE, and I was less than impressed. (Although I realize it wasn’t exactly an actor’s studio, that flick.) Can he handle as tall an order as Charlie Manson? Would Brad Anderson be the right man to direct him? (Let’s not forget he directed Christian Bale’s powerful performance in THE MACHINIST.) Discuss!
