With the embargo lifted this week on Universal’s THE THING prequel (read Eric’s SET VISIT), the first banner for the film comes on the heels of a handful of initial stills from the joint. Mad ups to io9, who snapped the look at Comic Con New York. And while not very enthralling as far as posters go, one thing is made abundantly clear…Universal’s intent on simply calling the film THE THING.
Which makes sense given how, save for a female presence, Eric noted the film being more of a remake than a prequel (hell just look at this still fo Joel and Adewale and tell me that’s not Kurt and Keith.)
From the pens of Eric Heisserer and Ronald D. Moore, THE THING picks up:
At an Antarctica research site, as the discovery of an alien craft leads to a confrontation between graduate student Kate Lloyd and scientist Dr. Sander Halvorson. While Dr. Halvorson keeps to his research, Kate partners with Sam Carter, a helicopter pilot, to pursue the alien life form.
Joel Edgerton, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (below), Eric Christian Olsen, Kim Bubbs, Jonathan Walker, Ulrich Thomsen, Stig Henrik Hoff and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje all star in the film. Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. directs.
