Original Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace being courted for Alien prequel?

From one Ridley Scott story to another. From the remake of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO to the original…

It was only last week we heard about 20th Century Fox being at loggerheads with Ridley Scott. The proven English director wanted to make an R-rated two-part ALIEN prequel at a price of $250 million. Fox hedged, wanting to bring the picture in at a far less price with a palatable PG-13 rating. Why then are casting decisions being considered?

Deadline has it that Scott has a keen eye on original THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO star Noomi Rapace (pictured) to star as the badass female lead in the ALIEN prequel. Scott had reportedly met with Carey Mulligan and Gemma Arterton to discuss playing the lead, but it now seems he’s intent on having Ms. Rapace headline.

I’ll admit, I was way off on this one. If you recall, I guessed Lea Seydoux (who worked with Scott on ROBIN HOOD) would get the role. Coincidentally, it was just announced that Seydoux landed the villainous lead in MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4. At least someone noticed her…

But what says you? Down with Rapace as a Ripley predecessor? She has a kick-ass enough look, wouldn’t you say?
