My lord, MONSTERS has more posters than it does minutes of screentime. Seriously, I could wallpaper my damn room with all the different artwork that has come out for the flick. I can’t wait for October 29th to come and go, because then we’ll – hopefully – have seen the last of this movie’s overheated promotional machine.
So here are two more posters for the Gareth Edwards film, which is currently available on Video On Demand, iTunes, Xbox Live, Playstation Marketplace, Amazon and Vudu. Obviously one has just photoshopped the two lead characters awkwardly into it and changed the tagline. While I do like the design, with the mask and the tentacles and all that, it’s yet another misrepresentation of this film, which is heavy on the romance but light on the actual sci-fi. I didn’t care much for the film, but I care even less for the way its being presented like it’s some kind of action-adventure. It is most certainly not.
Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon re-entry over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear and grow. In an effort to stem the destruction that resulted, half of Mexico was quarantined as an INFECTED ZONE. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain the massive creatures… Our story begins when a jaded US journalist begrudgingly agrees to find his boss’ daughter, a shaken American tourist and escort her through the infected zone to the safety of the US border.
MONSTERS comes out in limited theatrical release on OCTOBER 29th.
