Silly UK Quad for John Landis’ Burke & Hare revealed, doesn’t inspire hope

Just a day after the underwhelming promo trailer for BURKE & HARE hit the net comes the UK Quad poster for the film. If it wasn’t completely obvious before, it pretty much is now: this is a very silly movie. This looks like a poster for one of Universal’s lame holiday comedies, like MEET THE FOCKERS’ GRANDCHILDREN or one of those shitty Vince Vaughn movies. Well, except for the corpse on the right.

Like I said yesterday, I’m still eager to see it, so don’t think I’m writing it off. It’s just turning out to be a little different than I had expected – and hoped for. Since Burke and Hare were real people, and serious cretins, I thought there might be a chance for a genuine creep-out factor, in addition to the dark comedy. Doesn’t really look that way at the moment.

BURKE AND HARE is a black comedy based on the true story about the famous murderers, ‘Burke And Hare’ follows the hapless exploits of these two men as they fall into the highly profitable business of providing cadavers for the medical fraternity in Nineteenth Century Edinburgh, then the centre of medical learning. The one thing they were short of was bodies.

BURKE & HARE will hit theaters in the UK on OCTOBER 29th; still no US release date to be found.
