The last bit of news we had toward believing Ridley Scott is indeed forging ahead with his planned two-part ALIEN prequel came earlier this month, when Gemma Arterton was rumored to be coveted for the lead. Oh wait…that shite was rescinded quicker than Blohan’s jail sentence, wasn’t it?!?

Okay, well this ought to help. You see, in a Crave Online interview with production designer Arthur Max (who worked with Scott on ROBIN HOOD), the man had a modicum of news to share with us all regarding a new ALIEN avenue. Peep it…

When broaching the subject of an upcoming sci-fi project (ascertained as ALIEN), here’s what Max replied with:

“Yeah, we’re in development on that. I’m in Pinewood now doodling spaceships. I’ve got a little art department and we’re trying to get it off the ground.”

There’s obviously not enough here to get us too excited, but at least some steps, albeit small, are being made to ensure a real return of the monsters we’ve come to identify in the more sterling chapters of the films franchise. And with Ridley back at the helm, any news short of a production halt is good news.

Before we return with more on the matter, let us know who you think should headline Ridley’s origin story? If not Ms. Arterton, then who?
