Warner Bros. picks up Expulsion & Unlocked, two different new thrillers!

Since neither of these projects fit headlong into AITH body-bags, we thought it wise to combine the two stories as one. After-all, both new flicks come from the same studio, Warner Bros. – and while different in plot and theme – they both have enough genre tenets to warrant a mention. Take a look…

First up is a spec script Warner acquired called EXPULSION, which, in the wake of the ultra-ambitious INCEPTION, follows the template of “big idea” science fiction. Gregg Hurwitz penned the script, which chronicles life after an act of terror destroys Earth, as a small band of survivors escape to a planet beyond the solar system. Brad Weston will produce.

While that premise sounds decent, I really hope this doesn’t supplant Alfonso Cuaron’s GRAVITY, which is still being put together on the business side of things.

Warner Bros. also nabbed the rights to UNLOCKED, a script by Peter O’Brien that sat on the 2008 Black List of top unproduced screenplays. While no production dates or casting news has come out yet, the flick revolves around a female CIA interrogator who becomes unwillingly involved in a devastating biological attack on London after being tricked into allowing a terrorist to divulge information to the enemy. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Georgina Townsley will produce.

So there it is. Biological attacks and intergalactic terror. Warners may be onto something…

If you had to choose, which flick would you rather see…EXPULSION or UNLOCKED?
