Almost a year it’s been since Ruben Fleischer’s ZOMBIELAND was thrust into the ether, so it I guess more obligatory sequel talk is somewhat overdue. Our last article on the matter came back in late May, when star Jesse Eisenberg yapped about shooting the flick in 3D. Dude’s back, this time with his director, to address both the script and potential starting time for the zombie encore.

Here’s what Eisenberg told Movieweb while pimpin’ 30 MINUTES OR LESS:

“I think they maybe finished a draft of the script but I haven’t read it yet. I hope it’s great.”

And Fleischer:

“Yeah I read it,” he answered. “I mean it’s an early draft and we have plenty more to do to work on it but I think it’s going to be amazing. I’m really excited about it.”

Ruben then addressed how immediate the follow up will be:

“Yeah … I have a couple of irons in the fire so we’ll see but I’d be excited if it was. I have this buddy-cop movie that I sold to DreamWorks that is pretty cool and there’s a movie that Mike White wrote called Babe in the Woods that is a really cool script so those kind of exist and then we’ll see what happens.”

And there it is kiddies…from the director and star themselves. Can’t get more direct than that.
