Just as we ran a missive about Natalie Portman’s new gig, going so far as addressing the 29 year old’s ardent interest in portraying Lisbeth Salander in the cinematic version of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy, we now have a look at the actual girl cast in David Fincher’s Americanization. Yes, the one…the only…Rooney Mara.

That’s right y’all…the first set photos from Fincher’s THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO have flooded in, and they feature Ms. Mara getting her rough-and-tumble on. Check out the new Lisbeth Salander peeling out on a motorcycle below…

Set for a December 21, 2011 release – THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTO picks up:

Forty years ago, when Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family. He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, ruthless computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet’s disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from almost forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history. But the Vanger’s are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves.
