Last week, I told you all how JUDGE DREDD 3D was about to begin production in South Africa. While it doesn’t officially roll cameras until next month, the flick is heavily into pre-production right now, and has also finally found another cast member to star opposite Karl Urban’s Dredd.

According to Variety, Olivia Thirlby has joined the flick, which is evidently simply being called DREDD. Thirlby will play Cassandra Anderson, a telepathic rookie who shadows Dredd.

Thirlby gained some attention for her role as Ellen Page’s best friend in JUNO, and has since gone on to star in flicks like THE WACKNESS and NEW YORK, I LOVE YOU. She’s currently filming the alien invasion flick THE DARKEST HOUR – which is also 3D – in Russia.

DREDD is being directed by Pete Travis, off a script written by Alex Garland. It will shoot up until March of next year. Hopefully we’ll get a release date announcement before then.
