Well, it hasn’t even come out yet, but people must like what they see from SKYLINE, the alien invasion flick coming at us from The Strause Brothers and Rogue Pictures, because another one is already evidently being planned. According to an article in Variety, IM Global is already set to shop the title to foreign distributors, which basically presumes the concept that there will be a SKYLINE 2…
The first SKYLINE, which comes out in November, is a high-concept, glossy yet low-budget flick made by The Strause Brothers on their own with a small crew, an intimate cast, and a whole lot of ambition (it helps that the Strause boys are visual effects wizards). It’s almost guaranteed to make its money back, so why not think about a follow-up?
No details are given on the plot of the sequel, naturally, but it’s safe to assume that we’ll hear something shortly after the flick’s November 12th release. Based on the trailer, it looks exactly like the kind of epic audiences flock to – even if in reality it’s a lot smaller than it may initially seem.
After a late night party, a group of friends are awoken in the dead of the night by an eerie light beaming through the window. Like moths to a flame, the light source is drawing people outside before they suddenly vanish into the air. They soon discover an otherwordly force is swallowing the entire human population off the face of the earth. Now our band of survivors must fight for their lives as the world unravels around them.
The film stars Donald Faison, Eric Balfour, Brittany Daniel (below), Crystal Reed, Scottie Thompson, David Zayas, Neil Hopkins, Kevin O’Donnell, and Phet Mahathongdy.
