Of the three upcoming alien invasion flicks, namely SKYLINE, BATTLE: LOS ANGELES & MONSTERS – it’s the latter film by Gareth Edwards that intrigues me the most. Not only is the film drawing favorable comparisons to DISTRICT 9, all the footage seen so far has the makings of a sincere, anti-campy piece of filmmaking that isn’t rightly sullied by poor or overused CGI. Take a peek at the second teaser trailer MONSTERS underneath and see if you agree!
Subsuming U.S. theaters October 29th – MONSTERS picks up:
Six years ago, when NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon re-entry over Central America. Soon after new life forms began to appear there and half of Mexico was quarantined as an “Infected Zone.”
Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain “the creatures”… The story begins when a US journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through the infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.
Whitney Able (below) and Scoot McNairy carry the film.
