Jerry O’Connell talks about getting gorily castrated in Piranha 3-D!

Alright, so this is hardly news, more of a SPOLIER…but it’s still damn entertaining!

We’ve been pimping all kinds of viral marketing vids for Alexandre Aja’s PRIANHA 3-D, ones that feature the ultra-sleazy WildWildGirls showrunner, Derek Jones (played by Jerry O’Connell, loosely based on Girls Gone Wild slime-ball Joe Francis). You know what I’m talking about, right? Well now, eight days before the flick opens wide, O’Connell has spoke about the traumatic experience of having his man-region scarffed by a school of prehistoric man-eaters in the film. Not so fun…

While speaking with The Dailybeast, O’Connell admitted not only that his member gets masticated and spit out at the screen in glorious 3D, he also addressed the vain logistics offered during the shoot:

“We shot the film at Lake Havasu,” O’Connell says, “which is a manmade lake that the Colorado River runs into. The water’s, like, 60 degrees. That’s, like, really cold. So any images of my penis that have been captured, well, it’s freezing water. It’s not my best light. It’s not my best angle. If it had been humid, you would see it differently.”

Sorry Jer, no sympathy here. Not when you’ve got that smokin’ head of Romijn at home.

Getting away from the sensitive areas, O’Connell spoke further about his involvement in the film:

“I went to NYU film school,” he says. “I’m a big Corman fan, I love Joe Dante, I heard Richard Dreyfuss was on board. I was, like, ‘Get me this fucking script now!’”

He concludes:

“I get to play Joe Francis!” O’Connell practically screams through the telephone. “Oh, wait. For legal reasons I’m supposed to say, ‘I play someone loosely based on Joe Francis.’ I play Derek Jones, who owns Wild Wild Girls, which is loosely based—loosely!—on Girls Gone Wild.”

PIRANHA 3-D feeds August 20th.
