Guillermo del Toro’s writer Trashorras set to make directorial horror debut?

Damn…this Guillermo del Toro cat gets more ink dedicated to him than that p*ssy from BEASTLY!

And today’s no different. Only, it’s not a project he’ll be creating himself. You see, del Toro’s longtime scribe Antonio Trashorras (THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE) is finally ready to step out from the behind the curtain and direct a feature for himself. But not just any feature, oh no. Dude’s set to helm “an action thriller that finishes up as a horror film…a low-ish budget film with a twist” (so says Variety via Roxbury Pics founder Miguel Angel Faura).

So what’s the name of the project in question? According to Faura, a working title of CALLEJON is in place, though is subject to change in the coming months. Faura also drew comparisons to genre efforts HAUTE TENSION and THEM, which, if true, certainly gets our full attention here at AITH.

Here’s a rundown:

CALLEJON will star Cuban actress Ana de Armas (below) as a woman who, trapped in a laundry mat during a long and hellish night, attempts to escape from a serial murderer. Trashorras wrote the script, which he looks to lens in Spain come early 2011. Del Toro will no doubt produce.
