Will Bubba Nosferatu ever happen? Paul Giamatti seems to think so!

So what’d ya’ll think of Bruce Campbell as BUBBA HO-TEP? Can you imagine seeing Bubba battle Nosferatu…without Bruce?

I can’t tell you the last time we had an update about the much teased BUBBA NOSFERATU, hell our archives don’t even register the project anymore. Must of been awhile ago, when it was learned Bruce Campbell departed from the property. No matter, it appears Paul Giamatti, who’s still attached to star in the film, recently chattered with MTV and promised that, despite numerous setbacks and delays, BUBBA NOSFERATU is NOT dead. Yet.

When grilled about the status of the flick, Giamatti quipped:

“We’ve been trying to make that for two, three years, and we’re going to get it done at some point. I’m going to f—ing break my spine in half if I have to to get that thing done.”

He continues:

“We’ve been trying so hard and we’ve had so many near-misses. It’s almost come together like 15 freaking times and then it falls apart. At some point we’re going to get that done because it’s a great script. We’ll get it done at some point.”

After lamenting the current Hollywood business model, where no studio wants to take risks on smaller, more bizarre, less mainstream projects (only $40 million comedies and $200 million spectacles seem to be in fashion right now) – Giamatti ended on a positive note:

“We’ll find some way to do it, I swear to god,” he said. “I think ‘Bubba Ho-tep’ is just a f—ing great movie. I really do. We’ll make this other one somehow.”

Again, I’m not sure BUBBA NOSFERATU without Bruce Campbell is worthwhile…but Giamatti’s still pretty damn funny. You guys and gals still down with this? If it ever happens that is.
