It’s always a pleasure to catch wind of new foreign horror, and it looks like this is the first time we’re giving Yann Gozlan’s French chiller CAGED (aka CAPTIFS) some run around here. As you can imagine with a title like CAGED, Gozlan’s film falls under the “held captive” motif we seen in flicks like SAW, THE COLLECTOR, etc., though I’m not sure this one will have as much torture. Somewhere in Eastern Europe. Carole is a young nurse with a humanitarian aid group that has reached the end of its mission. But just then, the young woman and her two colleagues are kidnapped by strangers for mysterious reasons. Held captive, cared for and kept alive in an oppressive and sinister setting, the three prisoners soon discover with horror what their kidnappers truly have in store for them…
Arie Elmaleh, Zoe Felix (below), Goran Kostic and Eric Savin makeup the minimal cast. CAGED premieres in its native France on October 6th. Hopefully will have a stateside release date announcement before then.
