Warner Bros. has decided to move the release date for RED RIDING HOOD up a month; the flick now sits at MARCH 11th, before it was scheduled to premiere on APRIL 22nd. The reason is unclear, although good money is on Warner Bros. wanting to avoid SCREAM 4, which opens a week earlier, on the 15th. Universal’s THE THING hits on the 29th…

However, RED RIDING HOOD is now in competition with Sony’s big-budget alien invasion yarn BATTLE: LOS ANGELES, as well as a 3D family flick called MARS NEEDS MOMS. These are all appealing to different audiences, although the buzz on BATTLE: LA is pretty good, and it might be a four quadrant hit. RED RIDING HOOD will of course be aiming for the teen girl crowd, which is mighty when united. Should be an interesting showdown…

Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman, Shiloh Fernandez, Max Irons, Julie Christie, Michael Hogan, and Lukas Haas all star in the fantasy film, which is set in a medieval village that is haunted by a werewolf. Catherine Hardwicke directs from a screenplay written by David Leslie Johnson (ORPHAN).
