Lukas Haas joins Seyfried, Oldman & Christie in Hardwicke’s Red Riding Hood

You think TWILIGHT director Catherine Hardwicke is rooting for ECLIPSE to succeed?

Whatever the case may be, Hardwicke continues to cast her darkly spun fairytale RED RIDING HOOD, and it looks like cool character actor Lukas Haas (chompin’ on a stogy to the right) is the latest to join the roster of players (so says Variety).

No word as to what character Haas will play, though we know he joins Amanda Seyfried (looking delicious below), Gary Oldman, Julie Christie, Michael Shanks, Shiloh Fernandez, Max Irons, Jen Halley, Carmen Lavigne and Cole Heppell. It’d be pretty difficult to squander such a cast, wouldn’t ya say?!?

RED RIDING HOOD, which premieres April 22nd of next year, is set in a medieval village that is haunted by a werewolf, a young girl (Seyfried) falls for an orphaned woodcutter (Irons), much to her family’s displeasure.

My guess is this sucker sways to PG-13 territory to capitalize on the tween following of all things SAGA (this theory is supported by the fact wolf-boy Taylor Lautner was considered for the role of Peter).

At least ORPHAN writer David Johnson wrote the script.
