Now here’s an opportunity that kicks all kinds of ass!
You ever catch yourself balls-deep in an unabashedly low-rent SyFy channel movie? You know the kind I speak of…DINOCROC, MEGA-PIRANHA, MONGOLIAN DEATH WORM (a real one pictured right), that kind of shite. Well, now’s your chance to make your very own!
It’s true gang! Word from THR today says SyFy will solicit fans online to help produce a Saturday night creature feature for the network via B Movie Mogul, a production wing that will allow viewers to “vote and pitch ideas for the film, from title, creatures, wardrobe, dialogue, and character deaths to promotional taglines.”
The resulting “script” will be shot as a two-hour Syfy original movie to be released next year. Seriously, how rad is that?!?
According to THR, Syfy is pairing with IGN entertainment on the site; a partnership that will last 15 months and launch this Friday. The first stage will have fans voting on one of three overall concepts for the movie: a 2010 apocalypse story, a Bermuda Triangle-set creature feature or a Roswell, N.M.-set alien movie.
About the bold new venture, EVP of Programming Thomas Vitale had this to say:
“We constantly have fans e-mailing with compliments, complaints and questions about our movies, and this is a way of involving the fans in a new way. This is where entertainment is going and just the start of many more things of this nature for Syfy.”
Can’t really emphasize what a cool and possibly once in a lifetime opportunity this is. We at AITH encourage all creative types to give this sucker a whirl…never know what it may lead to!
