Any of you happen to see the 2008 South Korean torture picture DEATH BELL? Well, looks like the sucker’s getting a sequel!
No bullsh*ttin’! You see, on this relatively low news afternoon, I perused The Film Catalogue and found this little doozy. Peep it…
From director Sun Dong Yoon, DEATH BELL 2: BLOODY CAMP is a 10-25 $million follow up which finds: Se-hee being haunted by her step sister Tae-yeon, who used to be a promising swimmer but suddenly killed herself in a swimming pool 2 years ago. During the summer vacation, she joins the study camp at school for upcoming college entrance exam. On the first night, the succession of cruel killings occurs whenever the students fail to answer the given questions in time. Meanwhile, the hidden truth behind Tae-yeon’s suicide is slowly revealed and terrified students struggle to undo the puzzle before they become the next victim.
Gotta hand it to Asian horror, don’t ya? Instead of remaking popular American flicks in droves, which would seem to be an economic success, it’s the other way around. The U.S. takes cool, original Asian content and reappropriates it in the most debasing manner possible. Hopefully the leave DEATH BELL alone. Or hell, I may just watch Asian horror for a year straight!
DEATH BELL: B LOODY CAMP 2 is set up at M-Line Distribution. Ji-yeon Park and Si-yoon Yoon star in the picture.
