Joss Whedon’s Cabin in the Woods delayed by MGM indefinitely?

Those expecting to visit the CABIN IN THE WOODS this coming January…don’t!

Some disheartening news has come from THR today, and it regards Drew Goddard’s R-rated horror flick he co-wrote with TV bon vivant Joss Whedon. You know the flick I speak of, right?

No need fretting if not, we got ya covered. CABIN IN THE WOODS, a twisted and unusual 3D take on the familiar cabin in the woods story, is also said to boast lots of scary monsters. Here’s a quote from star Amy Acker, which she gave at WonderCon in April:

“It is about a cabin in the woods. You’ve figured it out. Yeah, it’s about a cabin in the woods. It does take from the sort of formula of the horror movie of this group of young kids who go away to a cabin in the woods for the weekend, and everything that happens and what you think is supposed to happen.”

Still kinda foggy, eh?

Well it doesn’t seem to matter much. See, in light of MGM’s devastating financial woes, CABIN THE WOODS’ January 14th, 2011 release date has been delayed indeterminably. It’s sad but true, your guess for when we’ll finally be able to see the film is as good as ours!

Word also has it that MGM’s long gestating RED DAWN remake has suffered a similar fate, also scrapping its undetermined 2010 release window. Maybe so they can get Jaden Smith for reshoots!

CABIN IN THE WOODS, which originally held a February 5th, 2010 relese date, stars Amy Acker (below), Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, Jessie Williams, Chris Hemsworth, Fran Kranz, Kristen Connolly, Anna Hutchison, Brian J. White, Jodelle Ferland, Monique Ganderton, Tom Lenk, Terry Chen and Chelah Horsdal.

More when we peel it!
