Oh no…not again!
Back in April we learned Screen Gems had bumped the release of Scott Stewart’s piously tinged horror outing PRIEST from January 14th to March 4th . A few weeks prior to that announcement, Screen Gems though it wise to delay the flick from August 2010 to the aforementioned January 2011 release window (due to 3D conversion). And yes, PRIEST is once again being back-burned.
BoxOffice Mojo is reporting today that PRIEST will now adhere to a May 13, 2011 release…either a really wise or really dumb move by Screen Gems to release a smaller flick like this in the lead-up to the mammoth summer blockbuster season. Since the flick has pushed back at least three times now, and given the not so impressive word of mouth surrounding Stewart’s LEGION (also starring Paul Bettany), I actually think the new move may do more harm than good. You agree or what?
Adapted from Min-Woo Hyung’s graphic novel series by Cory Goodman, PRIEST centers on: A priest disobeys church law to track down the vampires who kidnapped his niece.
Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q (below), Stephen Moyer, Christopher Plummer, Karl Urban, Lily Collins, Madchen Amick and the always awesome Brad Dourif comprise the principal cast.
Give us your guts on all things PRIEST below. You down with the project in general? Diggin’ the new release date? I’ll say this, I think the cast of PRIEST is better than that of LEGION, but I’m not sure that’s saying much.
