It was only yesterday that we were treated to the first official clip from Jimmy Hayward’s paranormal western JONAH HEX, a flick I’ve heard is tracking poorly by top Warner Bros. brass. Perhaps as a way to buck that trend is to unravel yet another action-packed clip from the film in hopes of raising awareness for its imminent release (June 18th). And it appears that is exactly what the studio has done, via the Official Myspace page for the film. If so inclined, get a gander of the new clip underneath!
Adapted by Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine, JONAH HEX (Josh Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone…and anything. Having survived death, Jonah’s violent history is steeped in myth and legend, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the “other side.” His only human connection is with Lilah (Megan Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own. But Jonah’s past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can’t refuse: in exchange for the freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich). But Turnbull, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash hell, is also Jonah’s oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead.
Honestly, I think I like the clip we saw yesterday better than this one. Why? At least the prior add the inextinguishable heat of Ms. Megan Fox. Sure, her acting looks deplorable, but JONAH HEX isn’t and would never be intended as the type of film to be campaigning for Best Acting Oscars. As far as high-octane summer blockbusters go, Fox is in her element. And a scorching corset!
