Supernatural’s greatest hits go way of the Anime

One show that I keep planning on getting into is SUPERNATURAL. I’ve heard too much good stuff about this show that I simply can’t ignore it anymore. Cool characters, supernatural storylines, and a what can I say–I’m a sucker for The CW.

Season six is on its way (which means I need to do some serious catch-up this summer), and in anticipation, the Japanese division of Warner Bros. is busting out with an all-new web-based series called SUPERNATURAL: THE ANIMATION, 22 episodes of SUPERNATURAL (a ‘best of’ selection) adapted via Anime.

According to Anime News Networks, SUPERNATURAL: THE ANIMATION will go something like this: The anime project will not only remake the best episodes from the live-action version, but also depict original episodes not seen in the live-action version. Those original episodes will include prologues of the Winchester brothers’ childhood, anime-only enemies, and episodes featuring secondary characters from the live-action version.

So if you’re a fan of the series, this is probably about as speem-worthy as it gets! I’m not even a sold fan yet, and this shit kind of excites me–the potential here for some coolness is way up there.

Be sure to check out the OFFICIAL SUPERNATURAL: THE ANIMATION WEBSITE, and stick around as more and more webisodes of the animated series becomes available. The collection of episodes will be available to own on DVD and Blu-ray in Japan on January 12, 2011, with a North American release date still TBA.
