Just because we’re still lamenting the fact Jimmy Hayward’s adaptation of JONAH HEX got anchored with a PG-13 rating today, that doesn’t mean we still can’t get down with gruff supernatural bounty hunter. You see, Warner Bros., perhaps as way to silence the clamor over such a rating, just unspooled a new clip and a grip of new stills from the flick. Check ’em out underneath!
In the clip, we pick up from the exchange most of us have seen in the various TV ads for the flick. That is, both Jonah and his slatternly sidekick Lilah (Fox) are held captive, and even in the face of grave danger, Jonah isn’t above a little flirtation. Not to spoil too much, but the duo make a predictable escape and become involved in some action-packed gunfire. Definitely worth a peek!
Leaving theaters in his wake June 18th, JONAH HEX (Josh Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone…and anything. Having survived death, Jonah’s violent history is steeped in myth and legend, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the “other side.” His only human connection is with Lilah (Megan Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own. But Jonah’s past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can’t refuse: in exchange for the freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich). But Turnbull, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash hell, is also Jonah’s oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead.
The always great John Malkovich, as well as Will Arnett, Michael Fassbender, John Gallagher, Wes Bentley, Michael Shannon, Julia Jones, David Jensen and Sean Boyd all take part in the film.
