Are we about to be treated to another HOST? (And no, I don’t mean THE HOST 2.) SciFi Japan reports that production has begun on MINING AREA 7 (aka SECTOR 7), a Korean film that will be released in 3D. Flick is about a mutated creature runs amok in an oil prospecting ship.

Director Youn Je-kyun apparently said the film will be a Korean equivalent of the ALIEN, and that the 3D will mostly be courtesy of post-production conversion, although considerable amount of footage will be shot in 3D from the beginning. Guess we’ll take what we can get on that front.

Actress Ha Ji-won (pictured below) will be starring the film, which is being financed by CJ Entertainment (which has also recently partnered with Chris Columbus on that slate of horror-comedies). The budget is estimated to be in the area of $8 million USD.

I loves me some monster movies, so count me in! Thanks to “Avery” for the tip!
