Back in April I hit you with the news that France was getting into the 3D horror game with BEHIND THE WALLS, a 1922-set fantasy thriller about a young novelist who goes to the countryside to write a book and falls victim to terrifying hallucinations and nightmares. The film is being directed by up-and-comers Pascal Sid and Julien Lacombe for approximately 3.7 million Euros.

Today, Variety brings the (somewhat surprising) news that French model Laetitia Casta has been cast in the film, apparently in the lead role. Casta has been a model for over 15 years, notably appearing in countless Victoria’s Secret catalogs and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues. In recent years, however, she’s expanded into the acting arena. This will perhaps be her highest profile role to date.

The plan is for the flick to be distributed sometime early next year by Bac Films in French theatres, while Roissy Films is handling international sales.

Here’s the official synopsis: Nicole, a young novelist stuck for ideas, decided to isolate herself in the campaign to write his new book. When Nicole discovers a condemned room in the basement of the house, she begins to write with unnerving ease. But soon, visions and nightmares make their appearance while mysterious disappearances of girls sow disorder in the village.
