Exciting news for… well, I’m not sure who, I guess Eric Roberts, since his daughter Emma has been cast in SCREAM 4. Young Roberts, currently best known as Julia’s niece, has nabbed the role of “Jill”, who, according to Entertainment Weekly, will play a role similar to Neve Campbell’s star-turning one in the original.
This conflicts with an earlier report that Ashley Greene would be playing Jill. Looks as though that was either rumor or just one possibility, but the new announcement seems pretty official – it comes with quotes and everything!
Emma Roberts had this to say: “I’m so excited to be part of this ground-breaking franchise. It’s the perfect opportunity for me to do something completely different than I’ve ever done before.”
Here’s Wes Craven’s comment on the matter: “Emma’s talent, beauty, and range will add immensely to the sophistication, intensity, and fun of the Scream franchise as it returns to the screen once more.”
Rory Culkin, Lake Bell and Hayden Panettiere are the other names that have been bandied about for SCREAM 4; the newbies would be joining Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette. Oh, and GhostFace of course.
The flick has an APRIL 15, 2011 release date.
