Any fans of Jack London out there? Any potential fans of seeing London’s adventures adapted for our beloved genre? This story could be for you then!

According Deadline, Fox 2000 has optioned rights to adapt THE SECRET JOURNEYS OF JACK LONDON: THE WILD to the big screen, the first entry in a series of young adult novels written by Christopher Golden and Tim Lebbon (who will also pen the screenplay). Harper Collins recently nabbed the series, with the first installment set to stack shelves in March of 2011.

So, what the hell is THE SECRET JOURNEYS OF JACK LONDON: THE WILD? According to the site:

The story follows a young Jack London, before he became the author of Call of the Wild, White Fang and Sea Wolf. He treks the frozen north in the midst of the Gold Rush. He finds many perils in the Yukon Territory, and some of them are monstrous legends come to life.

Sounds decent enough I suppose, for an idea based on young adult novels anyway.

Joining the likes of ABRAHAM LINCLON: VAMPIRE HUNTER, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, and PAUL IS UNDEAD, THE WILD is keeping with the recent trend of giving literary and historical figures a genre bent. Of the four, which grabs your guts the most? I’m somewhere between seeing the 16th president of the U.S. and the most famous band of all time get the gore treatment!
